God Is Still Speaking

EASTER LETTER FROM REV. KRIS STANLEY
Dear Beloved of Christ-
“What does God look like to you?” This was a question asked us by the professor of my Spiritual Formation class in seminary. When considering this question, some portrayed God as a dove or a fatherly figure- For me, I saw myself standing in front of the warmth of a flame at a cozy fire pit with friends and stories abounding. God then was like the shadow cast from the flames connected to my person but bigger than me, a protector, and hard to pin down. Inseparable but welcome and eerie. This is how I still see God. A part of me, but just out of view at times and omnipresent in the conversations and gatherings of loved ones who have the courage to be honest with one another and God. I ask you-what does God look like to you? Do you recognize God’s face? How do you know God, is God?
When asked why Jesus would take the cross for us the answer was love. God created us to love us and wants us to love Him back freely by pursuing a relationship with Him. How we see God influences the way we relate to Him and His people. Knowing how we see God will help us identify where we need healing and where we need to grow in our understanding. It also informs our testimony that we can use to share with others.
This Easter, as a gift to God for His gift to us, I dare you to share your faith with someone without shying away from your convictions. Further, I dare you to get convictions about your faith if you don't have them already! This modern world is tremendous at hiding its hurt in man made distractions. How about we be the light to this hurting world as an example of our love of Christ?
Praying for your holistic wellness, peace and wisdom-
Blessings,
Pastor Kris
